What is Lohri,How it celebrated?

It is a traditional Punjabi festival that is celebrated to mark the end of the winter season. Astrologically, the sun enters into Capricorn sign. Thus for the Indian subcontinent the travel of sun to the northern path starts from this day. It would result in larger days and smaller nights for the next six months or so.

Lohri falls on 14 January 2020 and this festival is one of the most auspicious festival celebrated by Punjabi farmers. During the month of January, the farmers harvest sugarcane crops and that is one of the major reasons why this festival is linked to Lohri.
